Burkina Faso means "Land of the Proud/Honest Men," is a landlocked nation in West Africa, and is home to the world's largest African film festival, the FESPACO film festival in Ouagadougou. The country's economy relies heavily on agriculture and gold exports, but it is known for its unique, world-renowned art. It is also one of the world's youngest countries, with a median age of around 18.6.  

The Meaning of the Name 

  • "Land of the Proud and Honest": Burkina Faso translates to "land of honest men" or "land of the proud and honest people," a combination of words from the country's main local languages.

Ouagadougou, the capital, hosts the Panafrican Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO), one of Africa's largest and most significant film festivals.
