Dish:                       Shendetlie

“Shendet” means health. But this cake is not really that healthy.

Description:      Albanian Shendetlie is an Albanian dessert and is a cross between a biscuit and cake. The first texture when removed from the oven resembles a biscuit, however, once the syrup has been added the baked dough softens and the final finish is a cake texture.

My Notes:            This was easy to make. The final product had a slightly crunchy base and top and a nice chewy middle. If you don’t like it too sweet, just reduce the amount of sugar syrup.
