A web page of bakery dishes from around the world

In this blog, you will find the most popular bakery dish from every country in the world. Included in the information is the name, a short description, a link to the recipe site, photos of the recipe item and also my creation and  my notes on the recipe.

This is followed by some fun facts on food and fun facts in general of the individual country and then a map showing where the country is located in the World and also in the local region.

I’m sure you will enjoy the journey with me, as I develop the site and progressively add information on countries in alphabetical order.

I took on this challenge because I have spent the last four years, after retirement, doing much the same thing every week. Not that life was boring, I just wanted a different challenge.

At first, I thought of listing all the traditional dishes from around the world but then I noticed that this was already done. (visit  Cooking A Dish From Every Country In The World - Challenge Fifty Two and see their great selection of dishes.

So, I changed direction and decided to base this page on baked/bakery goods

The beauty of this is that once you have made a particular recipe you can easily share the food with friends to taste.

The first step was to get a list of all the countries.  I used this site to get an alphabetical list in Excel format

Plain text list of countries · GitHub

Then it was time to start looking around the Web to find what were the most popular items for each country.

Here I cheated a little bit as I picked items which I could find the ingredients for (I was living in Vietnam at the time).

When you are in my blog page, go to "Pages" and then select a country to view the details.

First, here’s the list of countries that i will be posting about as i progress through my challenge.
